The Hexagon Trust will be awarding bursaries to only 1st year tertiary students that are South African citizens.

A minimum of an overall “C” aggregate is required

The Hexagon Trust funds students that are enrolled as first year students, and have been accepted at these institutions:

Application forms must be completed in detail and should include certified copies of the following:

  • Copy of your June Exam Grade 12 results if you are in Grade 12 in 2023. If you completed Grade 12 and entering your first year of studies, then please submit your latest Grade 12 results.
  • Your ID document.
  • For current Grade 12 applicants, once the final results are available, a certified copy must be submitted immediately to the office. Details will be provided on how to submit the results to shortlisted students.
  • A recently taken passport-size photograph.
  • A brief narrative of your family background, scholastic career and future plans.
  • Proof of income: The latest salary advice for your parents, or proof of unemployment.
  • An official letter of acceptance from an institution.
  • A recommendation letter from your school principal.

Students who are short-listed will be notified to appear before a selection committee, after which a final selection will be made.

  • In lieu of bursaries awarded to students it is expected that they will contribute part of their time and expertise to community service during and after completion of their studies.
  • All recipients of bursaries must become members of the Hexagon Students Alumni Association.

Applying for a bursary does not guarantee acceptance. Applicants are chosen based on their academic performance and results, financial need, commitment to their studies, and desire to developing their skills, as well as reach their full potential. The Hexagon Trust only awards bursaries to 1st year students that are South African citizens at one of the above listed institutions.

All applications are processed online. If you wish to apply for bursary funding, click on the Student Portal button. First time students will be required to complete the registration process and create an account. After you have done so, proceed to the Student Portal, and complete the online bursary application form. Once your bursary application has been submitted, you will receive updates via email, and via logging into your portal to view the status of your application. The application cycle opens between October – December.

Use your email address that you have specified, and your password. Passwords are required to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 8 characters long.
  • Must contain a lowercase letter.
  • Must contain an uppercase letter.
  • Must contain a digit
  • Must contain a special character.

All documents need to be submitted online during the application process. Only the following formats are allowed: jpg,jpeg,png,doc,docx,pdf,rtf. The max file size allowed is 2MB. All documents that are uploaded must be certified.

If you have applied before, you must login with your existing username (which is your email address), and password. Click on reset password if you have lost or forgotten it.

If you are a new applicant, you must register on the system. You will require a valid email address. You will also be required to select a password upon registration. 

  • Please ensure that you have used the correct email account when you registered. 
  • Check your SPAM or JUNK folder on your email client.

Our online application will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Once you have all the necessary documents ready to upload as part of the online application process. You can also save your application and return when you have all your details ready. Ensure to save your application if you wish to continue with it at a later stage or edit any information. Once you are satisfied with the information that you have input, you may click on submit.

Your application status will be updated on your Student Portal. You will be also be contacted via phone or email. Please ensure that you enter the correct details while completing your application form. 

Applications are finalised during January – February. Should you be shortlisted, you will be contact during this time.

  • Draft: You are still busy completing your application. It has not been submitted yet.
  • Pending: Your application has been fully completed, and will be processed soon.
  • Application Incomplete: You have completed your application, but you clicked on Save and not Submit, or you have completed your application, but you will need to add additional information in order for your application to be processed.
  • In Review: Your application has successfully submitted, and is being processed to see if you qualify for a bursary. Please note that you may only see an update from this status after the official closing date.
  • Shortlisted: The application team have reviewed your application and intend to review them further. You may be contacted by the Hexagon Trust team for a possible invitation to attend an interview. All further communication is at the discretion of the Trust.
  • Application Unsuccessful: Your application unfortunately does not meet the requirements.
  • Application Successful: You have been granted a bursary.
  • Application Unsuccessful – Incomplete: Your application was not completed correctly. It was not accepted as a result of it either not submitted prior to the closing date, or all information not being submitted on the online application.
  • Additional Documents Requested:  Your Grade 12 results along with your acceptance letter from your University will need to be submitted via email. please include these in PDF format in an email along with your Name, Surname, and Application number to info@hexagontrust.org.
